The direct control and responsibilities relative to the project
would be as follows:-
Managing Director
Responsible for the company's performance in ensuring progress
and completion on time and within budget to the client's entire
satisfaction.
Project Director
Responsible to the managing director and chairman, supervising
site and project engineers. Liaises with all individuals involved
with the project and co-ordinates all departments to facilitate
the smooth running of the project, including:
- Professional team
- Contract team
- Project engineer
- Site foreman
- Procurement manager
- Personnel manager
- Company safety officer
- Company plant manager
in direct control of the project performance in ensuring progress
of works, within the budgets provided by the company's tender, to
the clients satisfaction and within the time constraints of the
overall project programme.
Main duties are formulating a detailed programme, installation/builders
work drawings from tender and main contractors master programme.
On-going responsibility throughout the contract for programme updates
and production control monitoring and reports.
The preparation of a suitable programme co-ordinated with the major
sub-contractors and main contractors is fundamental in planning
to meet the objectives set out in the overall strategy document
included within our proposal.
Programmes are prepared in conjunction with site teams and in liaison
with the major sub-contractor and suppliers.
From these, progress schedules will be prepared for:-
- Construction programmes
- Pre-construction programmes
- Material control chart
- Commissioning programme
The programmes form an integral part of the monitoring and control
of the works.
For pre-construction programmes the following activities are considered:-
- Information release
- Finalisation of manufacturers information
- Material control charts
- Main ordering of sub-contractors and capital plant
- Production of drawings
- Approval by the professional team
- Manufacturing period off site
- Works test inspection prior to delivery to site
Project Engineer
Reports to the Project Director and is responsible for the detailed
engineering procurement and administration matters.
Also responsible for all site based line management and operatives,
day to day planning and site organisation, along with co-ordination
and detailed liaison with the main contractor and other trades and
supervises the following:-
- Site Foreman
- Section Foreman
He consults with:-
- Professional Team
- Contract Team
- Purchasing Department
- Personnel Department
- Company Safety Officers
- Plant Department.
Responsible for executing the engineering aspects of the contract
to the client's requirements within the budgets provided by the
company's tender. This encompasses direct control and supervision
of the staff listed in order to ensure productivity is maximised
to meet with completion dates and to maintain quality standards.
Detailed responsibilities include:-
- Direct site management of the electrical installation including
specialist sub-contractors. Responsible for the planning of the
installation schedule and ensuring the schedule dates are met
in line with client requirements.
- Labour efficiency ensuring that direct labour efficiency is
correctly monitored in order to control the cost and ensure that
the necessary action is taken to minimise non-productive labour
time.
- Control of quality standards, ensuring that correct inspection
procedures are adopted along with inspection of the finished installation
in conjunction with Clients' representatives and ensuring the
workforce is instructed on quality standards required.
- Establishing and maintaining safe working procedures with strict
observance of the company's safety training policy by all the
workforce; and compliance by subordinates of the Health and Safety
at Work Act 1974 in respect of protective clothing and equipment
for safe working and Construction, Design and Management Regulations
1996.
Planning Engineer
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for the planning and
control of the installation, utilising a completely computerised
system showing bar charts and network analysis.
The Company also employs programme evaluation and review techniques,
a probability distribution method, taking into account optimistic,
pessimistic and expected duration for complex projects.
Labour efficiency is also monitored using our internal production
control reporting procedures and associate production management
reports to ensure that productivity is being correctly monitored.
These computerised systems together with the operation research
techniques ensure effective quality control.
Buyer
Joint project team/branch responsibility to ensure forward ordering
of all materials and equipment to phase deliveries in accordance
with the detailed programme requirements. Working closely with the
contracts manager to ensure that specialist and sub-contractor orders
are placed with the contract requirements and special attention
to deliveries where site conditions are restricted.
Site Foreman
Responsible to the Project Manager regarding electrical and/or
mechanical aspects of the contract and supervises the Section Foreman,
and all grades of skilled craftsmen.
Consults with:-
- Project Team
- Planning Engineer
- Company Plant Manager
Main duties are to supervise the installation of labour force,
maintaining discipline, ensuring all works carried out safely in
accordance with the method statements, day to day inspections for
quality assurance of the installation and client liaison on site.
